Exciting times for the Trampoline team

Posted on 05 March 2008 by jspiller

February saw UCLan’s trampoline team head up to the northern qualifiers in Edinburgh.

Natalie Nash and Jennie Spiller came second and third in the advanced category. This means they have qualified for the BUSA national finals which are held in Manchester on March 9. Two competitors; Sophie Rankin and Helena Boryslawskyj who have automatically qualified for the finals as they competed in the elite category. We are all really looking forward to the final and are hoping to win medals.

We have also just been on tour to Edinburgh for the Scottish Students Open competition. We had 17 members competing (which is the most amount of competitors the club has ever had competing in one competition).

We had a range of competitors from novice to elite and everyone did really well! Ashley Rodgers came sixth and Emma Bryant came tenth in the novice ladies category, which had over 80 competitors.

Chris Jones came sixth and Daniel Cooper came seventh in intermediate men. Natalie Nash came ninth in advanced ladies. Helena Boryslawskyj came sixth and Sophie Rankin came third in the elite Ladies. All our other competitors did really well; some of them by challenging themselves, entering higher categories than they usually compete in. Others achieved personal bests and for many competitors it was their first competition.

Sophie Rankin and Jennie Spiller also finished third in the Syncro competition on Sunday.

We are currently organizing our tour to Cork in Ireland, to do the Irish Student Open, which we are hoping to do even better in.
