A popular UCLan student died whilst on holiday in Ibiza in July from a sudden aneurism.
Will Johnson, 20, had recently finished the first year of his Retail Management and Buying course and had gone on holiday with his friends. He died on Sunday July 22.
Will started his summer job at Selfridges in Manchester in April and within his first month had become the stores second best salesman. He was offered the role of buyer for Armani.
He was planning to work over summer and work part-time during his second year.
Will’s father, Allen Johnson spoke about his and his wife Jane’s grief. He said: “This is something we will never come to terms with. He had so much of a future, it’s just left a massive void.
“You just don’t expect to lose your son while he’s on holiday”.
Will died from an aneurism which happens when part of an artery swells. It is caused by a damaged blood vessel or a weakness in the blood vessel wall.
Allen said: “The coroner said he could have gone at any time, any rise in his blood pressure could have caused it, whether it was running up the stairs or running for the bus.”
The family are awaiting a full report from the coroner.
“He was a fantastic lad who had loads and loads of friends and had a great sense of humour”.
Michael Winer knew Will for seven years, and spoke at his funeral. He said that Will was best friend to everyone he knew. He said: “He was the life and soul of every party and everyone liked him. He was always very stylish and he always looked the part. He just loved going out. He lived in Moor Lane until February this year but moved back home to be closer to his girlfriend”.
In a speech at Will’s funeral, Michael said: “On nights out it would take ages just to walk down with the amount of people stopping him to say hello. He was always there and stuck by me, he was more than just a best friend. I could go on forever telling you all the different stories that made us love him so much. I miss you more than he could imagine, but treasure his memory forever”.

I can sympathise. Aneurisms are not pleasant when they burst. I was lucky though and got to casualty within 20mins.
