UCLan Men’s 4th football team battle for 2-2 draw against Manchester Met Men’s 3rd team.
It was a game of long balls and tough tackles. Both teams had players injured in the first half but fast-paced football from UCLan made them look the stronger side.
Left Back Daniel Dill was a force in attack as he constantly got behind the Manchester defence, creating plenty of chances.
Yet it was the away side who took the lead after 27 minutes of play. A low shot into the bottom left hand corner bounced off the post past a struggling goalkeeper.
With the game open and shots coming from all angles, it was a simple tap in for the UCLan player, known simply as Gino, which put them right back into the game.
Striker Tom Rosillo had numerous shots from long range and was a constant threat to Manchester. His chance just before half time grazed the crossbar and would have sent UCLan into half time with more confidence.
Against the run of play, Manchester took the lead for the second time in the 50th minute after their striker was found with plenty of space at the back post. His header meant UCLan had an uphill struggle but they were not ready to give up.
This was shown through right winger Dominic Hazell. Hard work soon paid off as a scramble in front of goal left centre back John Crook for a tap in. Crook looked comfortable throughout the game, organising the home side from the back.
A plucky and resilient UCLan will be hoping to grab all 3 points in their next game if they are to push for promotion this season.
