UCLan fail to make top 200 uni list

Posted on 17 October 2008 by Craig Bennett

The Times newspaper has released its list of the top 200 universities in the world for 2008, and UCLan didn’t make the grade.

The number of UK representatives on the list has decreased by one from last year. There are now 29 UK universities in the Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings. The number of British Universities in the top 100 has also fallen to 17 from 19 last year.

Harvard claimed the top spot for the fifth year in a row. Whilst Cambridge came third, narrowly beating rivals Oxford who came fourth.

Four British universities are in the top 10, the same as last year. Imperial College London fell from fifth to sixth place while University College London rose from ninth to seventh.

To rub salt into the wound the University of Lancaster did make the list. They came tied 170th.
