UCLan 4ths move second in their league after a hard fought victory over Bangor 2nds. The game started slowly, with the majority of the play being in midfield. The first chance fell to Bangor on 15 minutes after good work down the visitors left resulted in a deflected shot being well saved by Jonny Syraid in the UCLan goal.

UCLan started coming in to the game after 25 minutes but failed to create any decent chances. The home side were winning a lot of set pieces but they came to nothing and at half time the game was all square at 0-0.

After the break UCLan began to dominate, with the home side starting to win the midfield battle thanks to Dan Tyson. After 60 minutes Bangor 2nds were really being put under pressure, with Peter Whan coming close with a long shot and UCLan enjoying almost all of the possession.

The 4ths then changed formations, going from 4-4-2 to an attacking 3-5-2 which made all the difference. After 78 minutes UCLan managed to break the deadlock, after a cross from the Jaime Hutchins was headed on to the post by Spencer Gunnell and the rebound was blasted in by Paul Borelan from close range.

Bangor started pushing forward but with two minutes left the game was put beyond doubt by James Roddy after a good cross from OJ Farrell, the final whistle coming soon after.

After the game, 4th team captain Chenge Mabika said “This is a great result for us, it was a must win if we want to win the league but there is still room for improvement. Man of the match was a tough decision as everyone played really well, but I felt Spencer Gunnell was the difference today.”
