Did you once dream of being on TV but cave under the pressures of parental nagging to get a “real job”?
Well, showbiz careers can’t be promised but a casting call is being issued to students across the country.
UNITE, the UK’s largest provider of student accommodation, are looking for students to appear in an innovative new video.
UNITE has commissioned up and coming director Ollie Evans to create a short film about university life for the student television network Sub TV.
To win a starring role in the video, students must submit their auditions via UNITE’s Facebook page – just search “Best Days” – or visit the UNITE video pods at one of six universities around the UK.
A variety of parts are up for grabs, ranging from extras to two leading roles. Students will need to wow UNITE, with their own special talent; whether its a rib tickling party trick or a story about university life.
The successful entrants will be selected for a casting call with Ollie and UNITE in London in February. The video will be shot in late February and air in March 2009.
Students’ stories will also be used to help inspire the content of the video.
Ollie, who has worked with the likes of Ollie has recently been creating music videos for the likes of The Klaxons, Gossip and Foals, said: “University is often cited as the best days of our lives – and with good reason! Whether it’s making friends for life, going to an incredible gig or getting top marks, every student will have some great stories to share.
“With a combination of music, humour and technical trickery we’ll be making the most of those stories and creating a funny, memorable video people will want to share with their friends.”
UNITE’s Sales and Marketing Director Nathan Goddard said: “As a student accommodation provider we like to play a part in making the university experience as rewarding, inspiring and enjoyable as possible for our customers.
“We wanted to do something to celebrate that and capture the moment amongst the current generation of students. We’re delighted to be working with Ollie and can’t wait to see what he comes up with.”
