Forget the rest of Britain, UCLan’s got talent!

Posted on 24 March 2009 by David Stubbings

After two months of auditions, UCLan’s most gifted students get a chance to show off their talents in the final of UCLan’s Got Talent.

Hundreds of students have shown off skills such as beatboxing, upside down rapping and freestyle Frisbee dancing with over 1000 students texting in their favourites to go through to the final.

The 10 finalists will perform in the final on March 31 at 53 Degrees in front of an audience of over 400 people and a special guest judging panel. Also in attendance, and compére for the event, is comedian Dan Nightingale who is one of Lancashire’s most popular comedians. Both audience and judging panel will get their vote on who should be crowned the winner of UCLan’s Got Talent.

The chosen winner will win a share of the £1,000 cash prize on offer and be recognised as the most talented student at UCLan in 2009. Each finalist also gets automatically entered for a national competition searching for student talent in various university competitions. The climax of this is the Uni’s Got Talent competition to be filmed in London.

UCLan’s Got Talent has been one of the most talked about events on campus in 2009 with the final eagerly awaited. Auditions started in January and the many hundreds of contestants have been whittled down to 10.

The final for UCLan’s Got Talent starts at 8pm on Tuesday March 31. Tickets cost £3 in advance available from the student union or from the website, www.uclansgottalent.co.uk. Alternatively they will also be available to buy on the door for £3.50.
