Reni Eddo-Lodge addresses the AMM

The Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM) of UCLan’s Students’ Union took place today in Harrington Lecture theatre, passing all the raised motions.

The AMM (formerly Annual General Meeting, AGM) saw the Student Affairs Committee (SAC) give verbal reports on their actions so far, debated motions on the future of the Union, and was opened by a guest speech by the National Union of Students‘ Christine Yan Zhang, the International Students’ Rep. In her opening address, she focussed on employability.

The SAC followed this address, giving details of their work so far this year, and summing up the successes of their predecessor’s work.

Reni Eddo Lodge, Students’ Union President, spoke about showing solidarity with public sector strikes, about which she later proposed a motion, which was passed.

David Stubbings, Media Officer, talked about the success of getting PSTV affiliated with the National Student Television Association (NaSTA).

Becca Vafeas, Education Officer, spoke about course representation, and Jack Banks, Activities and Participation Officer, talked about kit branding, which again was a motion that was passed.

Stefan Popovic, Campaigns Officer, gave details of his current video campaign involving writing letters to Members of Parliaments.

Motions were then debated and all were passed by the audience, of which there were around 100 students. Full details of each motion can be found here.
