Paramedics assist accident casulties

A road traffic accident that took place on Plungington Road has left two women injured.

The incident took place at 15:26 after witnesses saw a red Renault Clio hit the pavement and consequently smash into the Salvation Army shop, leaving two women wounded.

At 16:02 a woman was taken to the ambulance after being treated by the side of the road by two ambulance men.

UCLan student and Plungington Road resident, Terri-Ann Williams said: “I just heard a massive thud and then my room shook. Then I heard a girl start screaming.”

There are currently unconfirmed reports circulating that a UCLan female student was involved with the accident.

Sources at Preston Royal Hospital when questioned said: “We cannot confirm or give out any information.”

Police reports have said that the accident appears “More dramatic than it really is” and a building inspector has since been called out to the Salvation Army.

The SAC followed this address, giving details of their work so far this year, and summing up the successes of their predecessor’s work.

Reni Eddo Lodge, Students’ Union President, spoke about showing solidarity with public sector strikes, about which she later proposed a motion, which was passed.

David Stubbings, Media Officer, talked about the success of getting PSTV affiliated with the National Student Television Association (NaSTA).

Becca Vafeas, Education Officer, spoke about course representation, and Jack Banks, Activities and Participation Officer, talked about kit branding, which again was a motion that was passed.

Stefan Popovic, Campaigns Officer, gave details of his current video campaign involving writing letters to Members of Parliaments.

Motions were then debated and all were passed by the audience, of which there were around 100 students. Full details of each motion can be found here.
